State University “Zhytomyr Polytechnic” is an educational institution of higher education in Zhytomyr with the IV level of accreditation. In 1960 students who worked in enterprises were required to study at the educational institution for 3 years, after which they had the opportunity to complete their studies at every higher education institution in Ukraine and the former Soviet Union. On September 1, 1960, the first 175 students began their studies. By the beginning of the 1964-65 academic year, the total number of students at Zhytomyr Polytechnic reached 1,052, with up to 39 lecturers. Over 33 years, the State University “Zhytomyr Polytechnic” trained almost 5,000 qualified mechanical and electrical engineers for the national economy, and more than 3,000 correspondence students underwent general technical training at the branch.
In the past few years State University “Zhytomyr Polytechnic” significantly increased its international connections. Much attention is being paid to the reconstruction of the university. The university renovated its facade due to European architectural standards, along with two modern tennis courts and sports centers. A stadium and a scientific-methodical center get a new building. On July 29, 2021, an interactive museum of science and technology called “Polytechnic” was created on the base of the State University “Zhytomyr Polytechnic.” Currently, the museum showcases 30 exhibits that allow visitors to independently verify the principles of natural laws. The student Mechatronics Laboratory “MechLab” is directly involved in creating museum exhibits, from ideas and drawings to their implementation. The interactive museum features exhibits on mechanics, optics, electricity, magnetism, logic, and acoustics.
