Odesa National Maritime University is a prestigious higher education institution of the IV level of accreditation under subordination of the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Ukraine. Odesa National Maritime University holds the leading position among the founders of maritime engineering education.
History
The university was founded in June 1930 as the Odesa Institute of Water Transport Engineers (OIIVT). In 1945, it was renamed the Odesa Institute of Maritime Fleet Engineers (OIIMF). By the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated August 29, 1994, the institute was renamed Odesa State Maritime University (ODMU). Since 1995 ONMU participated in Trans-European Programs of Cooperation (TACІS –TEMPUS, Erasmus +) and CEI Programmes.
By the decree of the President of Ukraine dated February 26, 2002, the Odesa National Maritime University was granted national status (ONMU). In 2003, Odesa National Maritime University successfully passed certification according to the international standard ISO 9001:2000 for quality management systems.
Odessa National Maritime University has educated maritime industry professionals for foreign countries since 1950. During this period, graduates were trained for more than 90 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
University Today
Odesa National Maritime University is located in 3 educational buildings, which house lecture halls, sports, and assembly halls, workshops, a library (with a total collection of over 800,000 copies), research laboratories, including unique ones (research pool, aerodynamics laboratory), and a modern publishing center with a printing house. Odesa National Maritime University has a yacht club, that hosts 13 cruising yachts. The total area of educational and laboratory buildings is 53,900 square meters. Odesa National Maritime University has a modern information and computing center, which includes 250 personal computers, with 300 personal computers used in departments and divisions. Most of the computers are connected to a university-wide local optical fiber network of 500 personal computers, providing Internet access.
The Odesa National Maritime University consists of 10 educational faculties that train specialists for the coastal infrastructure of maritime and river transport of Ukraine and foreign countries. Students can get high-quality higher education in 12 educational specialties.
The University is a member of the European Association of Universities (EAU), South East European Association of Transport Researches (SETREF), International Association of Maritime University (IAMU), and Magna Charta Universitatum.

Accommodation
Odesa National Maritime University provides comfortable and practical living conditions to ensure a supportive environment for study and rest.
Each room of the hostel is fully furnished with both hard and soft inventory, including beds, wardrobes, desks, chairs, bedside tables, mattresses, pillows, blankets, and bed linens. These essentials are provided to every resident to ensure a smooth and comfortable stay. Each floor is equipped with shared kitchens and sanitary facilities. The kitchens include electric stoves, sinks, and dining tables, allowing students to prepare meals conveniently. Sanitary blocks feature restrooms and showers, some of which are equipped with water heaters (boilers) to ensure access to hot water.
Additionally, the student campus has a modern bath and laundry complex. It is equipped with automatic washing machines, providing students with easy access to essential hygiene and laundry services. The hostels are designed to create a safe, clean, and community-oriented atmosphere, helping students feel at home throughout their studies at the university.
