The Odesa National Polytechnic University (ONPU) is one of Ukraine’s oldest engineering training institutions founded in 1918. During the years of its existence, the Odesa National Polytechnic University contributed to the development of Ukrainian and global science and technology as well as succeeded in training skilled experts for the national economy. More than 20,000 undergraduate and post-graduate students have an opportunity to gain a high-quality higher education at one of the most prominent technical universities in Odesa. The educational process is ensured by an academic staff consisting of 4,000 prominent lecturers, researchers, and practical engineers. There are more than 120 Professors and Doctors of Sciences, almost 450 associate professors, Ph.D., and 25 honored workers of Science & Engineering of Ukraine who work in ONPU.
In 2001, by Decree of the President of Ukraine, the Odesa National Polytechnic University was granted the status of a national higher education institution. According to the Presidential Decree of Ukraine, the university was awarded the status of a National Higher Education Institution, which recognized the international authority of Odesa National Polytechnic University, its high level of methodological and scientific work, and the corresponding quality of training specialists for the national economy. The university has half a century of experience in training personnel with high-quality knowledge and practical skills for foreign countries. More than 110 countries around the world have received specialists trained at our institution. Within the university structure, there is an Institute for the Training of Foreign Citizens, which prepares foreign students for further education at the university and other higher education institutions in Odesa and Ukraine.
Research Activity
The Odesa National Polytechnic University has a powerful research basis. Its prominent engineers, researchers, and scientists contribute to different areas of science and technology. The university provides its students with free access to 52 specialized research laboratories that conduct research in high-priority scientific domains: resource saving, environmental protection, fundamental research in mathematics, mechanics, computer science, new materials, automation instrument making, etc. Today Odesa National Polytechnic University efficiently cooperates with educational, scientific, and industrial centres in 40 foreign countries. The Odesa National Polytechnic University is a member of the European University Association and the International Association of Universities.
