The National University of Water and Environmental Engineering (NUWEE) stands as a prominent institution in Rivne, Ukraine, renowned domestically and internationally for its singular focus on training specialists in water management. At the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering, the educational process is facilitated by a cadre of 650 highly qualified scientific and pedagogical staff, including 75 doctors of science and 85 professors. University’s History
In 1914, the Council of Ministers, in collaboration with the Russian Technical Society, sanctioned the establishment of secondary agricultural hydraulic technical schools in Kyiv and Odessa. Consequently, the Kyiv Secondary Agricultural Hydraulic Technical School was inaugurated a year later, marking the initial milestone in the genesis of the future Kyiv Irrigation Institute. By 1920, the school underwent a transformation into the reclamation department of the Kyiv Agricultural College. In 1924, it was rebranded as the Kiev Engineering and Reclamation Technical School. The institute underwent another name change in 1934, becoming the Kiev Irrigation Institute.
The year 1957 witnessed yet another renaming, this time to the Kiev Institute of Water Resources Engineers. In 1959, a decision was made to relocate the Kiev Engineering and Reclamation Institute to Rivne, coinciding with a name alteration to the Ukrainian Institute of Water Resources Engineers. In 1995, the institution was rechristened as the Ukrainian State Academy of Water Management, marking a significant shift in nomenclature. Subsequent years saw further name modifications: in 1998, it was designated as Rivne State Technical University, followed by a name change to the Ukrainian State University of Water Resources and Environmental Management in 2002.
Since 2004, the Ukrainian State University of Water Resources and Environmental Management has assumed its current appellation as the National University of Water Management and Natural Resources Management, underscoring its focus on water management and environmental stewardship. Accommodation
The National University of Water and Environmental Engineering manages a modern and comprehensive material and technical base to cater to the needs of students. The university offers accommodation in eight halls of residence, totaling 50,273 square meters. All NUWEE students are provided with housing in accordance with the approved “Accommodation Regulations of Students and Postgraduates in Halls of Residence of NUWEE Campus”. Prospective students have the opportunity to stay in the halls of residence during the enrollment process. The university’s halls of residence are equipped with study and leisure rooms, sports facilities, cafes, libraries, and shower rooms. The accommodation meets all sanitary and hygienic standards of Ukraine, with rooms available in twin and triple configurations.
Upon arrival, international students receive a list of property items allocated to them, including beds, bed linen, curtains, utensils, and bookshelves. For safety and security, the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering employs security officers to provide round-the-clock guard service on the campus. The State Migration Service of Ukraine in Rivne region conducts informative meetings regarding compliance with Ukrainian legislation. The National Police of Ukraine patrols the university campus to maintain public order, safety, and to prevent crime in the surrounding areas. These measures ensure international students are provided with a safe and secure living environment during their time at NUWEE.
