The National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NULES) is a distinguished higher education institution renowned for its excellence in education, research, and cultural contributions. With a student body exceeding 26,000 and over 600 graduates, PhD students, and seekers, NULES is a cornerstone of intellectual and academic development in Ukraine. The university comprises 3 educational and research institutes, 13 departments of the basic university institution in Kyiv, and 10 separate units throughout Ukraine, offering regional universities of I-III accreditation levels. NULES boasts a faculty of over 2,600 scientific, educational, and pedagogical professionals, including approximately 300 professors and doctors of sciences, and more than 1,000 assistant professors and PhDs.

History of the University
The National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine stands as a leading institution of higher education in Ukraine, renowned for its rich history and dedication to excellence in education, research, and cultural development. The university’s origins trace back to the establishment of the Department of Agriculture within the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI), later evolved into the Faculty of Agricultural Faculty in 1918. It marked the inception of the Kyiv Agricultural Institute, which emerged as an independent educational institution in 1923. Over the years, the university underwent several transformations, leading to the formation of the Kyiv Institute of Agronomy, Kyiv Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture, Kyiv Agrarian Engineering Institute of Sugar Industry, and Agrarian Economics Institute between 1930 and 1934.
In parallel, the history of the Kyiv Forestry Institute dates back to 1840, starting as the Faculty of Forestry within the Institute of Agriculture and Forestry in Marimont, Poland. The institute relocated to Novoaleksandria (now Pulavy) in 1862 and later to Kharkiv, where it became the Kharkiv Institute of Agriculture and Forestry in 1921. In 1930, the Forestry faculty of the Kharkiv Agrarian Institute merged with the Forest Engineering faculty of the Kyiv Agrarian Institute, leading to the establishment of the Ukrainian Forest Technical Institute, which later transformed into the Kyiv Forestry Institute.
The merger of the Kyiv Agricultural Institute and the Ukrainian Forestry Institute in 1954 resulted in the formation of the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy (UAA), which further expanded with the inclusion of the Kyiv Veterinarian Institute in 1957. In August 1992, the National Agrarian University was established based on the UAA, eventually attaining the status of a National University in 1994. The university’s continuous growth and development have been marked by various mergers, reorganizations, and the establishment of new academic units, reflecting its commitment to excellence in agricultural education, research, and environmental stewardship.
