National Aviation University is one of the most powerful aviation-related higher educational facilities in the world, with about 25,000 students enrolled, including nearly 1,500 foreigners from 55 countries. The main competitive advantage of the university both in the Ukrainian and global educational markets is its aviation component. National Aviation University trains future pilots, unmanned aerial vehicle operators, groundhandlers for aviation equipment and aircraft engines, air traffic controllers and engineers, on-board equipment and avionics specialists, radio electronics experts, designers of modern airports, airfields, aviation and logistics experts, cybersecurity and systems diagnostics specialists, environmentalists, economists, lawyers, psychologists, physicians, and other specialists.
History
The National Aviation University traces its origins back to the late XIX century when aviation courses were organized by Kyiv Polytechnic. In 1933, the Kyiv Aviation Institute was established as an independent entity through a resolution of the Council of People’s Commissars of the USSR. It was known as the Kyiv Institute of Civil Aviation in 1947 and 1965 before being renamed the Kyiv International University of Civil Aviation in 1994. Finally, in 2000, it attained national status and was rebranded as the National Aviation University. Due to the national and international recognition of the significant contribution to the development of national higher education and science, and by the Decree of the President of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma granted national status to the University in September 2000.
For 85 years of its history more than 200,000 highly skilled professionals has been trained in this higher aviation educational institution. Among them there are well-known scientists, heads of aviation companies, enterprises, organizations and institutions that provide aircraft flights, their maintenance and repair, transportation of passengers and cargo. The university launched powerful scientific schools in the fields of management, mechanics, electronics, electrical engineering, materials science and computer technology.
University Today
Today the National Aviation University includes four institutes, ten faculties, Department of Military Training, six colleges, two lyceums, and Flight Academy in Kropyvnytskyi. The Pearl of the University is one of the largest aviation training hangars in Europe. Also, at National Aviation University there is a training airfield and a field for aviation ground engineering, training complexes, educational and scientific aerodynamic complex based on a subsonic wind tunnel TAD-2. The campus consists of 9 dormitories, a canteen able to host up to 1,000 people, an Internet cafe, a student’s Bistro, a health center, equipped with modern diagnostic and medical equipment, a disease prevention department, a culture and arts center with 1,500 seats, and a sports center. The book stock of National Aviation University Scientific and Technical Library consist of more than 2.6 million books.
Educational process is ensured by a team of highly qualified scholars and teachers. Part of team of National Aviation University is a correspondent member of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine, 23 academicians of state sectoral academies of sciences, four academicians and 26 corresponding members of the Higher School Academy of Sciences, 17 honored workers of science and technology, 15 honored workers of education, three honored lawyers, two honored industry workers, an honored economist, four honored transport workers, an honored inventor, an honored mechanical engineer, an honored metrologist, two honored cultural workers, an honored social worker, an honored agricultural worker, and a people’s architect.
Among partners of National Aviation University are Ukraine’s leading aviation enterprises: State Aviation Service, State Space Agency, Antonov State Enterprise, Ukroboronprom, the Boryspil International Airport, the Kyiv International Airport, the Odesa International Airport), UIA, and SE Plant 410 of Civil Aviation.
As a member of the International Association of Universities, the National Aviation University offers education in 50 areas spanning Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Legal Studies, and more. Annually, it educates over 50,000 students and trainees, contributing to its status as a national and international center for aviation and related industries. Throughout its nearly eighty years of existence, the National Aviation University has produced approximately 200,000 highly skilled specialists from 160 countries.

Accommodation
The student campus at the National Aviation University encompasses 11 hostels, one of which is designed in a hotel style, offering a total living area of 70,504 square meters. The buildings, constructed predominantly of brick, vary in height, with five hostels spanning five stories and six hostels rising to nine stories. Each living space within the hostels is furnished with new furniture, ensuring comfort and convenience for students. Students’ rooms are equipped with modern plumbing fixtures and washing machines, facilitating students’ daily needs.
In addition to comfortable accommodations, the National Aviation University campus provides ample opportunities for physical fitness and recreation. It features two sports grounds where students can engage in various sports activities and maintain an active lifestyle.
