    Kherson State Maritime Academy is a state higher education institution in Kherson accredited at level IV for training specialists for maritime and river transport in Ukraine. The institute includes the Faculty of Navigation and Ship Power Engineering, the Faculty of Correspondence Education, Maritime College, and the Professional Maritime Lyceum. 131 teachers are working in 11 departments of the institute, including 10 doctors of science and professors, and 47 candidates of science and associate professors. The Maritime College and Professional Maritime Lyceum has 136 teachers, including 43 senior teachers. The total number of students, including cadets, students, and pupils from all funding sources and forms of education, is 4,467 individuals. In the Professional Maritime Lyceum of KhSMI, there are 451 students.

    Just before the Marine Generations Succession ceremony marking the inauguration of the KSMA cadets in 2016, the Kherson State Maritime Academy unveiled its new educational and training complex, known as the Kherson State Maritime Academy – Virtual Reality Vessel. The complex consists of 19 laboratories, 16 simulators, and 21 classrooms, the pearls of which are the Navigation Bridge Integrated Simulator, which consists of Electronic Chart Display and Information System Laboratory, Radar/ARPA Simulator Laboratory and Full Mission Navigation Bridge Laboratory; Engine Room Integrated Simulator, which consists of two engine rooms, Instructor’s Workplace and Theoretical Training Classroom; and DP Integrated Simulator.

    Training Facilities

    Simulators and Training Facilities were built following requirements of the International Maritime Organization (ІМО) and International Convention with Manila amendments. The facilities were audited by Danish Marine Management and verification inspection by the European Agency on Marine Safety (EMSA) regarding the state of the departmental, trainer preparation of seamen. In January 2011, the Educational establishment confirmed ISO 9001:2009 audited by the Ukrainian Shipping or Register. The facilities provide an opportunity for all cadets to gain essential skills and knowledge prior first board assignment to be competent following STCW. Academy owns the best equipment, facilities, simulators, and physical resources to deliver effective on-site training. It includes:
