The Flight Academy National Aviation University is one of the oldest educational institutions in Ukraine, training aviation specialists since 1951. During its existence, the academy trained more than 110,000 specialists from 80 countries.
History
The history of the Flight Academy of the National Aviation University dates back more than 50 years. It was established as the 60th Military Aviation Flight College in Kirovograd in 1951, training flight crews for the Soviet Army Military Air Forces until 1960. Following the reduction of USSR Military Forces, it transformed into the Kirovograd Civil Aviation High School. From 1960 to 1978, it trained aviation personnel for Aeroflot and aviation companies worldwide. The introduction of new aviation hardware in the 1960s necessitated the creation of civil aviation higher education establishments. In 1978, the Kirovograd Civil Aviation High Flight College was established, improving its technical and training base along with aviation staff high education programs. In 1993, it became the Flight Academy National Aviation University, recognized for its high-quality training based on years of tradition and experience.
Academy Today
The Academy provides a full cycle of training: it has three faculties, a military department, master’s and postgraduate programs, as well as two specialized Academic Councils for dissertation defense.
Two training airfields, training aircraft, simulator complexes, and an aviation-technical base certified according to Eurostandard requirements enable the Academy to conduct both theoretical education and high-quality practical training for cadets on its own premises.
One of the key directions of the international activity of the Flight Academy National Aviation University is the development of international cooperation with higher education institutions of foreign countries. The Flight Academy National Aviation University actively collaborates with foreign higher education institutions from various countries such as Poland, Georgia, the Czech Republic, Armenia, Tajikistan, Bulgaria, Turkey, and others, with which agreements, contracts, and memorandums on academic and scientific cooperation have been signed.
Relying on the best world and domestic traditions and guided by modern principles and the latest trends in the development of educational services, the Flight Academy National Aviation University provides a full cycle of education for the “Bachelor Degree”, “Master Degree” and the educational and scientific degree “Doctor of Philosophy”.

Aviation Technical Base of the Flight Academy of the National Aviation University
The Aviation Technical Base (ATB) of Flight Academy National Aviation University holds a maintenance organization approval certificate confirming its compliance with European standards.
The ATB of the Flight Academy is fully equipped with ground facilities, tools, and equipment necessary for the maintenance of the following aircraft: An-2, An-24, An-26, An-32 (B, P), Yak-18T, Yak-52, NARP-1, L-410UVP(E), and K-10.
Within the ATB structure, there is a laboratory section for testing aviation and radio-electronic equipment of aircraft. The ATB is certified to perform:
- Control and recovery work (CRW) on the An-2 aircraft;
- Conversion work for non-overhaul operation of the L-410UVP(E) aircraft;
- F-7 level inspections (parameter control and recovery work) on the NARP-1 aircraft.
The ATB employs qualified personnel capable of performing maintenance in accordance with aircraft manufacturer programs and current repair procedures. Additionally, the ATB includes a training and production department where cadets undergo hands-on practice with aviation equipment as part of their academic programs.
