Central Ukrainian National Technical University is a higher education institution located in Kropyvnytskyi, Ukraine. The history of the university begins in April 1929, when an evening workers’ Institute of Agricultural Engineering was established in Zinovyevsk. The Institute was located on the premises of the former county school. Serhiy Hnatovych Vorobyov was appointed as the Director of the Institute. The Institute trained engineering personnel for the production of agricultural machinery specializing in foundry work, forging and stamping production, woodworking, and mechanical processing. As of December 1, 1930, the institute had 212 students. Additionally, 246 students were enrolled in the Workers’ Faculty. The educational process was provided by 30 teachers, including 3 professors (S. H. Vorobyov, P. A. Ilyashevich, D. A. Tolchinsky) and 18 associate professors. The institute initiated the Postgraduate training for its students.

The institute existed for a short time. On February 26, 1933, the People’s Commissariat of Heavy Industry of the USSR issued an order for its liquidation. By that time, the institute had trained about 350 young specialists. A significant portion of the students of the liquidated institute were transferred to the organized college of Agricultural Engineering, which today is a structural unit of the Central Ukrainian National Technical University. In May 1956, according to the order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the USSR, an evening department of the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute was organized based on the Kirovograd College of Agricultural Engineering. With the development of the material base and the creation of a qualified scientific and pedagogical team, the Kirovograd Evening Department was reorganized into a branch of the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute in 1962, with the organization of training specialists in both full-time and evening forms of study.

The effective work of the academic and administrative staff of the Kirovohrad Institute of Agricultural Engineering resulted in Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1972 of December 14, 1998, on the reorganization of the educational institution into Kirovohrad State Technical University (KSTU). Taking into account the nationwide and international recognition of the results of Kirovohrad State Technical University, and its significant contribution to the development of national education and science, the President of Ukraine, by Decree dated March 5, 2004, granted the university national status. The university has extensive international ties with educational institutions and research centers in Russia, Bulgaria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Cuba, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and others. Representatives of the Peace Corps of the United States are involved in the educational process. Currently, the university enrolls 95 students from 14 countries abroad, and during its existence, it has trained over 550 specialists in 65 countries worldwide.
