Postgraduate education in Ukrainian universities is conducted in English and Ukrainian according to programs and curricula sanctioned by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. We consider the specific needs of the public health services in the trainees’ home countries. The postgraduate courses last between 2 to 3 years. The primary goal of postgraduate training is to enable medical institution graduates to further their education and for general practitioners to enhance their skills for subsequent certification.
The Medical Faculties at the universities in Ukraine collaborate with teaching hospitals and other healthcare organizations to provide the essential physical and human resources to create an academic environment conducive to training medical graduates. It ensures they develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to become proficient physicians and surgeons with the highest moral and ethical standards.
Training is tailored individually, based on qualification characteristics, professional and position requirements, forward-looking principles, and the aspirations of the doctors. Comprehensive theoretical instruction is integrated with practical skill development, including operative techniques and routine and complex surgical procedures. To uphold its international status, Ukrainian universities plan to train residents from abroad through contractual agreements with foreign countries, universities, and hospitals. The residents return to their home countries after completing their training.

- With Surgery – 3 years;
- Without Surgery – 2 years.
