The Ministry of Science and Education of Ukraine has published the results of the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2025 (SCImago IR). This ranking includes nearly 10,000 scientific and educational institutions worldwide, including 5,000 universities. This year, Ukraine is represented by 61 universities from most regions.
The SCImago Institutions Rankings, a reputable international evaluation system for scientific and academic institutions, has been analyzing their performance since 2009 based on three key criteria:
- Research performance – 50%
- Innovative developments – 30%
- Social impact – 20%
The ranking methodology is based on data from the Scopus scientometric database and other authoritative sources. The assessment considers the impact of scientific publications, the level of international cooperation, open access to research, patent activity, technological contributions, and the digital presence of the university.
Since 2024, the ranking methodology has been expanded to include three new indicators reflecting the social impact of higher education institutions:
- Research and educational initiatives aimed at global development and addressing current challenges.
- The level of women’s participation in research processes.
- The use of scientific research results in decision-making at national and international levels.
Universities in Vinnytsia in the SCImago IR 2025 ranking are ranked as follows:
- Vinnytsia National Pirogov Memorial Medical University – 40th place among Ukrainian universities.
- Vinnytsia National Technical University – 48th place.
- Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University – 57th place.
In the near future, the university will focus on achieving leading positions in pan-European rankings.
