Established in 1977, the university has evolved significantly over four decades, transitioning from the Sumy branch of the Kharkiv Agricultural Institute named after V.V. Dokuchaiev into a formidable educational institution of national significance.     Sumy National Agrarian University’s research endeavors span 19 laboratories and offer 26 specialties for postgraduate students. The Research Institute of Potato-breeding contributes significantly to agricultural innovation in the region. The university’s library is a treasure trove, housing over 500,000 editions spanning various genres and formats, including e-books for distance learning. Practical training finds expression in our educational and scientific laboratory (vivarium) and the educational and experimental farm.     History of the University

    Sumy National Agrarian University traces its origins to April 1977 when it was established as a branch of the Kharkiv Agricultural Institute named after V. V. Dokuchaev, as per the Order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the USSR dated April 29, 1977, No. 95. In 1990, the Sumy Agricultural Institute was formed on the foundation of this branch, as decreed by the Order of the State Commission of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on Food and Procurement dated February 27, 1990, No. 24. Subsequently, in 1997, the institute was elevated to the status of a university.

    The journey of recognition continued with Sumy National Agrarian University being granted national status by Decree of the President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma dated August 7, 2001, No. 591, affirmed by the Order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine dated August 22, 2001, No. 253. Further recognition came in 2007, with the university being accredited as a Level IV (fourth) higher education institution until July 1, 2017, by the decision of the State Accreditation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, outlined in Protocol No. 68 and certified by certificate RD-IV No. 193846.

    The Sumy National Agrarian University boasts a robust material and technical infrastructure, comprising 9 educational laboratory rooms spanning a total area of 105244 sq. m. The facilities serve as the cornerstone for practical learning experiences, allowing students in engineering specialties to hone their skills and knowledge. The campus features training grounds, engineering facilities buildings, and research departments, all designed to provide a comprehensive educational environment. In 2003, Sumy National Agrarian University expanded its academic offerings by incorporating 6 institutes of higher education with accreditation levels ranging from 1 to 2. The strategic integration further enriched the academic landscape and diversified areas of expertise.

    Following a meticulous rearrangement process aimed at optimizing specialization, the Sumy National Agrarian University’s total area stands at an impressive 364780 sq.m. Within the expanse, the academic area encompasses 243185 sq. m., while the remaining 121595 sq. m. are dedicated to educational support buildings, including workrooms, training grounds, engineering facilities buildings, and research departments. The campus boasts a modern assembly hall with a seating capacity of 450, providing a versatile venue for academic gatherings, cultural events, and guest lectures.
