History
Central Ukrainian National Technical University has been developing from Yelisavetgrad High Real State School which was found in 1870. As a university, its history began from Zinoviev Evening Institute of Agricultural Machinery which was established in 1929. On December 30, 1930, the first group of engineers graduated, having completed an accelerated program that considered their previous education at technical colleges. Twenty-one graduates were awarded the qualification of mechanical engineer.
In the post-war period, the rapid development of agricultural machinery manufacturing created a pressing need to resume the training of engineering personnel in our city. Numerous petitions were submitted to establish a higher education institution in Kropyvnytskyi (former Kirovohrad) to provide specialists for the agricultural machinery industry. There were several reorganizations: in 1956 it was a department of evening studies, in 1962 it was a branch of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute and in 1967 it was Kirovohrad Institute of Agricultural Machinery.
The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1972 dated December 14, 1998, granted the institute a new status — Kirovohrad State Technical University, recognizing the effective educational and scientific achievements of its students and faculty. In acknowledgment of its national and international accomplishments in education and science, the university was awarded national status by Presidential Decree of Ukraine on March 5, 2004. According to Order No. 1291 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated October 27, 2016, Kirovohrad National Technical University was renamed Central Ukrainian National Technical University.
