The National Forestry and Wood-Technology University of Ukraine is a Ukrainian-only higher education institution Forestry profile. During its history, the University has become a prominent center of forestry engineering education in Ukraine, which is actively integrating into the European education system. The University provides students with an opportunity to get a high-quality education at the Institute of Ecological Economics, 6 faculties, a Preparatory School, and postgraduate courses, which includes a small Preparatory Department with advanced training and retraining programs.
The institute successfully underwent the accreditation process and on June 17, 1993, obtained a state license for educational activities at the IV educational qualification levels in the core specialties: “Forestry and Horticulture”, “Forest Engineering”, “Wood Processing Technology”, “Machinery and Equipment of the Forest Complex”, “Automation of Technological Processes and Productions”, “Economics and Management in the Fields of the Forest Complex”, “Landscape Architecture”. Specializations in “Design”, “Ecology”, “Accounting”, and “Control and Analysis of Economic Activities” were accredited at the 3 levels. The vice-rectors V. I. Vaidanych, D. L. Duduk, and B. V. Prokopovych carried out substantial work in preparing accreditation materials.
As the training of high-level specialists for the forestry sector in European countries is carried out within the university system, the new status enabled the National Forestry and Wood-Technology University of Ukraine to prepare Bachelors, Specialists, and Masters in the same manner as in well-known technological and technical universities worldwide, such as the Sopron Forestry University (Hungary), Zvolen Technical University (Slovakia), Dresden Technical University (Germany), and others.
University Today
At present, the university comprises the Institute of Ecological Economics, and 6 faculties: the Faculty of Forestry, the Faculty of Forest Engineering and Mechanics, the Faculty of Woodworking Technology, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Corresponding Studies and Post-Graduate Training, the Research Department, the Scientific Technical Library, the Small Forest Academy, Lviv Technological College, Transcarpathian Forestry College, the State Botanical Garden, the natural reserve “Rostochya”, the Stradch Educational Forestry Enterprise, the Educational and Consulting Centre in Khust (Transcarpathian region), the Carpathian and Polissya Research Forest Ecology Laboratories, 3 educational and research ecological center, a sport-and-recreation center on the Black Sea coast and several other institutions. The university conducted its educational activity in 9 academic buildings, one of them being an architectural monument. Residence halls are located in the university area. All the academic buildings and residence halls of the National Forestry University of Ukraine make up the university campus. Library users are served in 2 lending and 3 reading halls. The library is located in a separate building with two more departments. The free Internet access is provided in every university building.
